For student athletes of Alhambra High School
The Lion Pride Scholarship Fund provides scholarships to Alhambra High School graduating student/athletes for their post secondary education through fundraiser and donations. The scholarship was the inspired by Alhambra alumni, Isaac Aguirre, David Sandoval and Randall Lindsay.
Isaac Aguirre graduated from Alhambra in 1983 where he played both football and basketball. He attended Bethany College in Lindsborg, Kansas on a football scholarship. He lives in Goodyear, Arizona and he is the owner of a small trucking company. He is married to his wife Jennie and has 2 daughters, Chloe and Jordyn. He has long wanted to give back to his high school alma mater and founded the Lion Pride Scholarship Fund to help student athletes achieve their goals of obtaining a post- secondary education.
David Sandoval graduated from Alhambra High School in 1985 and was a member of the 1985 State Basketball Championship team. He attended Phoenix College and Arizona State University where he met his wife of 25-years. He has a vast experience in leadership roles and is a local business owner in the City of Peoria. He serves as the current President of the Peoria Unified School District governing board and current board member of the Arizona Latino School Board Association. He has served on many committees with the Arizona Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and as the Vice President of Phoenix Union’s Foundation for Education and as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees for Abrazo Health's Maryvale Hospital. David has an unwavering commitment to ensuring that our most valuable assets…our youth, are given an equitable opportunity to succeed. He looks forward to continuing to exercise his civic duty by serving the very community that he grew up in and uplifting its youth through scholarship.
Randall Lindsey graduated from Alhambra in 1986, where he played football, basketball and baseball, and participated in the Lettermen’s Club and student government. Randall played college football at Yale University and also sang bass in one of the university’s renown a cappella singing groups. Randall is a partner in a small international law firm specializing in Mexican law. He lives in Chandler with his wife and two teenage daughters. Randall’s oldest daughter now attends Chandler High. He regularly reminds her the Lions gave Chandler one of their only losses on the Wolves’ march to the 5A state basketball championship in 1984, and that the Lions themselves, under Coach Phil Kemp and behind Mitch Smith won the state championship the very next year. (She usually rolls her eyes.)
The scholarships for the 2023-24 school year will be awarded to one female and one male student/athlete. The male student/athlete will receive the Willard Nobley Memorial Scholarship. Coach Nobley was a longtime Physical Education teacher and basketball coach at Alhambra High School. The female student/athlete will receive the Hugh Morrison Memorial Scholarship. Coach Morrison was a longtime Physical Education teacher and track and field coach at Alhambra High School.
